The study led by Professor Amrita Ahluwalia of the William Harvey Research Institute at Barts and The London School of Medicine, and Professor Ben Benjamin of Peninsula Medical School, revealed that beet juice consumption brought down healthy volunteers’ blood pressure significantly within just 1 hour of ingesting beetroot juice. More interesting is the fact that even after the elapsing of 24 hours some degree of reduction continued to be observed. Isn’t it amazing?
This could prove a major milestone in our fight against deadly high blood pressure, as hypertension is still one of the serious health problems, responsible for around 20% deaths, worldwide, one way or the other. Moreover, death toll due to hypertension has spiraled to new heights in the developing countries like Argentina, Chile, Cuba, Mauritius, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Trinidad and Uruguay. All this raise the curtain from a gloomy health.

This definitely seems to be another feather in the cap of our good old beetroot. For that matter medical research shows that beet root juice has been used to cure cancer and malignant tumors in some patients.
